Abu Dhabi [UAE], September 18: Vinayak Shukla, the wicketkeeper-batter for Oman, has expressed admiration for the Indian cricket team, highlighting their dedication to hard work and their ability to learn from previous games.
India has already secured a spot in the Super Four stage of the tournament and will face Oman, who is still seeking their first victory, in a match that holds no bearing on the standings at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, this Friday.
In a pre-match press conference, Shukla stated, “We hold India in high regard due to their cricketing prowess. Our focus is on our own efforts and learning from past performances. We are eager to deliver a competitive match.”
Shukla emphasized that their aim in this final group match against India is to display quality cricket, having already shown potential in earlier games. They are determined to address their weaknesses and provide an entertaining experience for their supporters.
“This is our last group match, with two teams already through. Our objective is to present good cricket. We’ve had moments of quality, but we need to work on our flaws. We want to give our fans a thrilling match,” he remarked.
He also noted the need to enhance their top and middle-order batting, as they have faced challenges with early wickets in their last two outings.
India triumphed over the UAE by nine wickets in their opening match and defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in their second game. Oman, on the other hand, has lost both of their matches against Pakistan and the UAE.
This match marks Oman’s final encounter against a Full Member team before they host a significant tournament next month—the T20 World Cup Asia & East-Asia-Pacific Regional Qualifier.
