Oman’s Captain Calls for Fearless Play

Colombo, Sri Lanka - February 5: Jatinder Singh, the captain of the Oman men's cricket team, emphasized the importance of playing with courage as they prepare for the ICC Men’s T20I World Cup commencing on February 7.


Oman finds itself in Group B, facing off against Ireland, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, and Australia. The top two teams from this group will advance to the Super 8 stage.


During a media briefing with captains in Colombo, Singh remarked, "We are in a challenging group for associate teams. Our squad is strong, but we must adopt a fearless and positive approach to progress to the next round."


Praise for Coach Duleep Mendis

Duleep Mendis, the head coach of Oman’s cricket team, received accolades from Singh for his pivotal role in elevating Oman cricket over the years.


"Duleep is an exceptional coach and mentor for our squad. He has been with us since 2012 and has made significant contributions. His extensive knowledge of the local pitches will be invaluable for us," Singh stated, as reported by ICC.


Netherlands Captain Excited for Tournament

Scott Edwards, the captain of the Netherlands, expressed enthusiasm for his team's upcoming matches in the tournament. The Netherlands is placed in Group A alongside defending champions India, Pakistan, Namibia, and the USA.


"We are thrilled. Each group has its strengths. Competing against India in Ahmedabad will be a significant event. The team has prepared well, and we are eager to kick off the tournament," he shared.


Edwards added, "The World Cup in India and Sri Lanka is thrilling. Our primary objective is to advance past the initial stage, so we are focusing on our first four matches."

When discussing their chances of winning the trophy, Edwards noted, "To have a shot at the title, winning the first three or four games is crucial."
