Odisha FC Set to Face Inter Kashi FC in ISL 2025-26 Opener
Exciting Season Opener at Kalinga Stadium
Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], February 23: Odisha FC is gearing up to host Inter Kashi FC in their inaugural match of the Indian Super League 2025-26 season. This highly anticipated encounter will take place at the Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday, February 24.
This match marks Odisha FC's first home game of the season, following the postponement of their initial fixture against Punjab FC on February 16, as per an official announcement.
On the other hand, Inter Kashi made a commendable debut in the league, managing to secure a 1-1 draw against the reigning AIFF Super Cup champions, FC Goa, last week.
In a pre-match statement, Odisha FC's head coach TG Purushottaman emphasized, “Our focus is not solely on the outcomes but rather on our performances; the results will follow. We intend to leverage our strengths while identifying and exploiting their weaknesses. We are prepared to face any challenges that arise.”
Odisha FC captain Carlos Delgado shared insights on the team's objectives for the season, stating, “The key is to remain united, be ambitious, and enjoy our training sessions. Time is limited, so we must quickly develop into a cohesive and strong team. We are committed to giving our all to secure victories.”
Historically, the two teams have clashed once before in the AIFF Super Cup 2024, where Odisha triumphed with a convincing 3-0 victory, thanks to goals from Lalthathanga, Diego Mauricio, and Puitea.
Looking ahead to the upcoming match, Inter Kashi's head coach Antonio Lopez Habas remarked, “Our primary goal is to establish our team in this league and improve daily. While we may not be the favorites for the title, we aim to remain competitive throughout the season. My coaching philosophy is adaptable, based on the players' strengths and conditions.”
Inter Kashi forward Alfred Planas added, “We need to execute our plans effectively from the outset, as the league is brief. There’s no pressure; this is our first ISL season, and if we adhere to the coach's strategies, we can be competitive in every match. Our focus must remain on what we can control.”
Odisha FC is determined to kick off their campaign with a strong performance at home, while Inter Kashi FC looks to build on their promising start to the season.
