Djokovic's New Coaching Partnership

New Delhi [India] - On May 20, Novak Djokovic, the reigning Olympic tennis champion from Paris 2024, took to Instagram to announce Viktor Troicki as his new coach, just days before the commencement of Roland-Garros 2026, scheduled from May 24 to June 7.

In his post, Djokovic expressed his excitement, stating, “Welcome, my friend, teammate, and now coach… Viktor Troicki.”

As he heads to Paris, the 24-time Grand Slam winner is on a quest for his historic 25th major title. However, the iconic player, who will celebrate his 39th birthday on May 22, has faced challenges this season, particularly with limited match play on clay courts.

Despite these hurdles, the world No. 4 remains a formidable contender. He made a significant run at the Australian Open 2026, where he was defeated by Carlos Alcaraz in the final. Achieving a 25th Grand Slam victory would place Djokovic in sole possession of the all-time record, currently shared with Margaret Court.

In recent developments, Djokovic withdrew from the Mutua Madrid Open last month due to an injury. The former world No. 1 last participated in the BNP Paribas Open in March, missing the Miami Open later that month due to a right shoulder issue.

Earlier this year, the 38-year-old Serbian lost to Carlos Alcaraz in the Australian Open final in February and faced a setback against Jack Draper in the fourth round of the BNP Paribas Open before his withdrawal from the Miami Open due to the shoulder injury.

Draper achieved a remarkable victory at the Indian Wells Open by defeating the Serbian legend and World No. 3, Novak Djokovic, in a thrilling Round 16 match, while several top seeds advanced in the prestigious ATP Masters 1000 tournament.
