North Zone Claims Victory in T20 Cricket Trophy

In a remarkable display of skill, North Zone clinched the JK Bose Inter-Zonal T20 Cricket Trophy, finishing the tournament unbeaten and losing only a single wicket throughout the matches. Meanwhile, the Sports Journalists Association of Mumbai (SJAM-1) secured the championship title in the AC Bali Table Tennis Tournament.


These sporting events were part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations for the Sports Journalists Federation of India (SJFI) National Convention, held in New Delhi on Monday, organized by the Delhi Sports Journalists Association (DSJA).


North Zone sealed their championship by defeating East Zone decisively at the Roshanara Cricket Ground. East Zone batted first, scoring 135 runs for 6 wickets in their 20 overs, with Pranab Shil contributing a powerful 47 not out from just 23 balls, and captain Abhishek remaining unbeaten on 39.


North Zone chased down the target with ease, reaching 136 runs without losing a wicket in just 9.5 overs. Rishabh Singh was the star of the match, scoring an impressive 87 runs off 40 balls, while captain Akash Rawal supported him with an unbeaten 31. Rishabh finished the tournament as the leading run-scorer, amassing a total of 289 runs.


In another match, West Zone triumphed over South Zone by 10 wickets at the Delhi Police Ground. South Zone was bowled out for a mere 97 runs in 18.5 overs, with V.L. Sashank scoring 34 runs. The West Zone bowlers, Deep Sudhakar (4 wickets for 13 runs) and Taus Rizvi (3 wickets for 13 runs), were instrumental in this victory.


West Zone comfortably chased the target, scoring 98 runs without losing a wicket in just 13 overs, with Taus Rizvi scoring an unbeaten 53 and Devendra Pandey contributing 36 not out.


In the AC Bali Table Tennis Tournament held at Roshanara Club, SJAM-1 defeated DSJA-1 in the team championship final. The winning team included Amol Karhadkar and Ashwin Ferro, while the runners-up team featured Bharat Sharma, Kushan Sarkar, and Norris Pritam.


Amol Karhadkar also excelled in the individual events, winning the men's singles title against Keerthi from the Tamil Nadu Sports Journalists Association.


In the men's doubles category, the duo of Amol Karhadkar and Ashwin Ferro from SJAM clinched the title, while Kushan Sarkar and Bharat Sharma from DSJA finished as runners-up.


In other competitions, Bengaluru emerged victorious in basketball, with Indore taking second place, and SJAM-2 won the futsal event, while SJAM-1 finished as runners-up.
