Nitish Kumar Reddy to Miss T20I Series Against Ireland Due to Injury
Nitish Reddy's Injury Update
Nitish Kumar Reddy, the prominent all-rounder from India, will be absent from the upcoming two-match T20I series against Ireland, which kicks off in Belfast on June 26. His quadriceps injury, which had already sidelined him during the second ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow, has reportedly worsened, necessitating treatment before he can return to the field. Currently, there is no clear timeline for his comeback, and it remains uncertain whether he will also miss the ODIs and T20Is against England. As it stands, Reddy will not travel to Ireland with the team.
Details of Nitish Reddy's Condition
A source familiar with the situation disclosed that an MRI scan has shown swelling and fiber disruption in Reddy's left quadriceps. Following this assessment, he has been instructed to report to the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for further evaluation and management. A comprehensive recovery timeline will be established after additional medical assessments. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to announce a replacement for him.
India's white-ball team is set to embark on their next tour starting Friday in Ireland, with the European tour commencing with two T20Is. This series marks Shreyas Iyer's first assignment as the newly appointed T20I captain, having taken over from Suryakumar Yadav. Additionally, 15-year-old sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is expected to draw attention as he aims to become the youngest player to represent India, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar.
Despite recent tensions and violence in Belfast, Cricket Ireland has officially confirmed that the series will proceed as scheduled. Both matches will take place at the Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast.
