Harare [Zimbabwe], July 22: Tim Seifert's explosive half-century, coupled with a strong bowling performance, propelled New Zealand to a convincing seven-wicket victory against South Africa in the tri-nation series match held in Harare on Tuesday.

This victory allowed New Zealand to finish the group stage with a perfect record of three wins from three matches, setting up a title showdown against the Proteas, who ended with two wins and two losses, securing the second spot. Unfortunately, Zimbabwe was eliminated from the tournament after suffering defeats in all three of their matches.

After winning the toss, New Zealand chose to bowl first. They quickly put pressure on the South African batting lineup, reducing them to 79/5 within just 14.1 overs. Reeza Hendricks provided some resistance with a score of 41 off 37 balls, including four boundaries and a six, helping South Africa surpass the 100-run mark in 15.3 overs.

George Linde contributed with a score of 23 not out from 15 balls, featuring a four and a six, as South Africa concluded their innings at 134/8 after 20 overs.

For New Zealand, Adam Milne (2/21), captain Mitchell Santner (2/26), and Jacob Duffy (2/33) were the standout bowlers.

In their chase, Seifert and Devon Conway (19) established a solid opening partnership of 51 runs. Despite a few setbacks, Seifert's rapid 66 not out off 48 balls, which included six fours and two sixes, along with Daryl Mitchell's contribution of 20 not out from 15 balls, ensured a successful run chase, sealing the match with 25 balls to spare.

Senuran Muthusamy was the leading wicket-taker for South Africa, finishing with figures of 2/24.

Seifert was awarded the 'Player of the Match' for his outstanding performance.
