Leadership Changes in the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2027 Organizing Committee
Johannesburg, South Africa - March 22: The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 has announced the appointment of Qondisa Ngwenya as the Chief Executive Officer and Edward Khoza as the Chief Operating Officer.
Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed these appointments on Saturday, highlighting that both candidates were selected after a thorough recruitment process and received unanimous support from the board.
Ngwenya, who is currently the president of Cycling South Africa, brings a wealth of experience from both the sports and media industries, including his previous position as head of the television production company Octagon.
Khoza has a strong background within CSA, having recently served as the executive of domestic cricket. He also played a significant role as head of cricket pathways during the Social Justice and Nation-Building (SJN) hearings in 2021.
Trevor Manuel, Chairperson of the LOC Board, expressed optimism about the new leadership, stating, “The LOC Board is thrilled to welcome Qondisa and Edward. We are eager to leverage their expertise in organizing such a significant global sporting event.”
The ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027 is set to take place in October and November, co-hosted by South Africa, Namibia, and Zimbabwe. The tournament will feature 14 teams competing in a total of 54 matches.
Out of the 14 teams, 10 will qualify automatically based on their rankings and host status, while the remaining four spots will be filled through a World Cup Qualifier event involving 10 teams.
