New Indoor Cricket Facility Opens in Guwahati to Boost Player Training
Inauguration of a State-of-the-Art Cricket Facility
The 17,000-sq-ft facility has nine wickets of four spin and five seam with imported Uniturf surfaces for varied training conditions
Guwahati, Sept 12: A significant addition to Assam's cricket infrastructure was marked by the inauguration of one of India's largest indoor cricket facilities at the ACA Cricket Academy in Fulung, North Guwahati. This new facility aims to provide players with comprehensive training, fitness, and recovery options throughout the year.
The opening ceremony was led by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, alongside notable figures such as Assam Cricket Association (ACA) secretary Sanatan Das, treasurer Anupam Deka, and Apex Council member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya.
Covering approximately 17,000 square feet, the facility features nine cricket wickets, comprising four designed for spin and five for seam bowling. These wickets are fitted with high-quality imported Uniturf surfaces, enabling players to practice under diverse conditions.
Additionally, the facility includes separate changing rooms for male and female athletes, both equipped with ice bath amenities for effective post-training recovery. A gymnasium spanning 1,500 square feet has also been incorporated.
Other amenities consist of a sauna, steam room, and a specialized physiotherapy unit aimed at rehabilitation, injury management, and recovery.
Saikia emphasized the importance of modern cricket infrastructure, stating, “Creating the right environment for players to learn, train, and develop is crucial. I believe this facility will significantly aid the upcoming generation of cricketers from Assam and support their long-term growth.”
This indoor facility will facilitate uninterrupted training year-round, regardless of weather conditions, and will enhance the ACA Cricket Academy's ability to implement structured training programs.
It is anticipated that this facility will assist players in honing their skills, maintaining physical fitness, and preparing for the challenges of competitive cricket at advanced levels.
