Netherlands Announces T20 World Cup Squad

New Delhi, January 12: The Netherlands has confirmed its squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, retaining a strong lineup featuring captain Scott Edwards, Colin Ackermann, Bas de Leede, and Logan van Beek, among others.


Under the leadership of Scott Edwards, the team comprises players who have represented the Netherlands in significant ICC tournaments over the past few years. The Dutch secured their spot in the World Cup through the European qualifiers, alongside Italy. This marks their seventh participation in the prestigious T20I event, having first appeared in 2009, where they famously triumphed over England. Their most notable performance came during the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, where they reached the Super 12 stage, finishing eighth overall with victories against South Africa and Zimbabwe, and narrowly losing to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, garnering global attention.


The Netherlands is placed in Group A, competing against India, Pakistan, Namibia, and the United States, with their opening match set against Pakistan on February 7 in Colombo.


Head coach Ryan Cook expressed confidence in the team's experience, stating, "With our past World Cup experiences and recent matches against all teams in our group, along with our familiarity with the conditions in Sri Lanka and India, we feel well-prepared for the tournament."


He added, "The players and staff have dedicated themselves and made significant sacrifices to ensure the team is in a strong position for success. Our squad offers depth and a variety of options, which we believe will be advantageous against our opponents and in these conditions, especially as we aim to progress through the group stages."
