Priyansh Arya Shines in IPL 2025

New Delhi [India] - Former cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has expressed his support for Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya, advocating for his inclusion in the Indian national team following an impressive performance against Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing IPL 2025.

During a challenging match where Punjab found themselves struggling at 83/5, Priyansh turned the game around with a remarkable batting display. He faced a formidable Chennai bowling lineup, which included Matheesha Pathirana, Noor Ahmad, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja, and managed to dominate them.

The 24-year-old benefited from a bit of luck, as Chennai dropped his catch twice, allowing him to score a stunning century off just 39 balls, marking his first in the lucrative league. His aggressive batting style, complemented by contributions from Shashank Singh (52*) and Marco Jansen (34*), propelled PBKS to a challenging total of 219/6.

Sidhu, who has witnessed many talents rise and fall in cricket, believes Priyansh is a standout player, comparing him to the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. He stated, “Priyansh Arya will represent India for many years. After Sachin, he is the second player I consider a miracle because he scored a century under pressure. Look at the bowlers he faced; he achieved a 250 strike rate,” Sidhu remarked in an Instagram video.

He further praised Priyansh's ability to score runs with power, especially after the dismissals of Shreyas, Nehal, and Prabhsimran. “He hit sixes all around the ground against top bowlers like Pathirana, Jadeja, Ashwin, and Noor. He turned a lost match into a victory for Punjab,” Sidhu added.

Following Priyansh's explosive 103 off 42 balls, which included nine sixes, the pressure shifted to Punjab's bowlers to defend against Chennai, who were aiming to chase down their first target of over 180 since 2018.

Despite a strong start from Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra, Chennai ultimately fell short by 18 runs, marking their fourth consecutive defeat in the current season.
