Navdeep Saini Lauds Jasprit Bumrah's Stellar Performance in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy

Praise for Bumrah's Performance

New Delhi [India], August 18: Navdeep Saini, a seamer for East Delhi Riders, expressed admiration for Jasprit Bumrah's contributions during the recently held Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy between India and England.

Despite participating in only three out of the five matches due to workload management, Bumrah showcased his skills effectively. He entered the series following an impressive IPL season, where he claimed 18 wickets while playing for the Mumbai Indians.

After recovering from a back injury sustained during the record-setting Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Bumrah utilized the IPL to regain his form for international play.

In the Test series against England, he stood out as India's second-highest wicket-taker and was tied for fourth overall, securing 14 wickets at an average of 26.00, with his best performance being 5/74. Notably, he achieved two five-wicket hauls, although he faced challenges with the new ball.

“I believe Jassi Bhai [Jasprit Bumrah] performed exceptionally well in the last series [Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy]. He bowled brilliantly in all three matches he played,” Saini remarked.

Saini emphasized the importance of fast bowlers participating in domestic cricket to prepare for higher levels of competition. He noted that extensive experience in domestic leagues equips players to handle the pressures of top-tier cricket.

“I firmly believe that all fast bowlers should engage in domestic cricket so that when they reach the top level, they feel at ease, as their hard work will make everything seem familiar,” he stated.

“The DPL has evolved into a significant platform for players aspiring to join the IPL or the Indian team. With the abundance of talent in Delhi, every player understands how to excel,” he added.

In the current Delhi Premier League, Saini has taken five wickets in six matches, averaging 40.2. He plays for East Delhi Riders, a team that has achieved five wins out of seven matches and currently holds the second position in the DPL points table.
