Nandini Sharma Shines with a Hat-Trick

In a thrilling Women’s Premier League match on Sunday, Nandini Sharma from Chandigarh achieved her first-ever hat-trick, helping the Delhi Capitals dismiss the Gujarat Giants for 209 runs.

Gujarat Giants, batting first, saw their opener Devine, who stepped back from international cricket last year, deliver an explosive performance. She scored 42 runs off just 42 balls, hitting seven fours and eight sixes, and formed a solid opening partnership of 94 runs with Beth Mooney, who contributed 19 runs.

Devine set a rapid pace, striking three boundaries off Chinelle Henry and then targeting Nandini Sharma with two fours and a six in the fourth over. She particularly dominated Sneh Rana, scoring two fours and four consecutive sixes in a single over that yielded 32 runs, propelling Gujarat Giants to 80 runs without losing a wicket during the powerplay.

Reaching her half-century in a mere 25 balls, Devine's innings was halted in the ninth over when Shree Charani executed a sharp caught-and-bowled to dismiss Mooney. Devine briefly regained her momentum, hitting Charani for three sixes, but was ultimately out in the 11th over, bowled by Nandini.

Gujarat's captain Ashleigh Gardner contributed significantly with a quickfire 49 runs off 26 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes, pushing the team past the 200-run mark.

Nandini Sharma concluded her outstanding performance by taking four wickets in the final over, achieving her hat-trick with three wickets on consecutive deliveries.
