This achievement came during their 13th match of the IPL 2026 season against the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, where they faced a four-wicket defeat. Despite the loss, the MI bowlers managed to dismiss six KKR batsmen, bringing their total T20 wickets to 1862 across 312 matches. This surpasses the previous record held by Pakistan, who had taken 1858 wickets in 303 T20 games.
