Exciting Finale of Mumbai Indians Junior Season 6

The finals of the Mumbai Indians Junior Season 6 took place at the MIG Cricket Club in Bandra, where Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School (Boys U-16), Modern English School (Girls U-15), and VK Krishna Menon Academy (U-14) emerged victorious, as reported in a recent announcement.

Mahela Jayawardene, the Head Coach of Mumbai Indians, commended the sixth edition of MI Junior, emphasizing the significance of enjoying sports at a young age. During the closing ceremony, he urged the young athletes to draw inspiration from the historic venue to enhance their skills and aim to represent Mumbai Indians in the future.

“This marks our sixth year of hosting MI Junior, and it continues to grow more thrilling each time. Sports is fundamentally about participation, and at this age, the focus should be on relishing the competition. Today, we are at a legendary venue where many Indian cricketers began their careers. I noticed some iconic photographs in the dressing rooms, and I know that Hardik Pandya also trained here in his formative years. This is an excellent opportunity for you to challenge yourselves and, hopefully, one day wear the Mumbai colors,” he stated.

In the Boys U-16 final, Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School batted first, showcasing a robust batting lineup with several players surpassing the 20-run mark. However, they couldn't convert their starts into big scores, with notable contributions from Kabir Jagtap (41), Laxmanprasad Vishwakarma (39), and Ramprasad Vishwakarma (38).

Ultimately, it was captain Yuvan Sharma's explosive innings of 52 runs off just 20 balls that propelled Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School to a formidable total of 253 runs in their allotted 30 overs.

On the other hand, Sitaram Prakash High School's pursuit of the championship relied heavily on the outstanding performance of opener Aayush Shete, who scored a remarkable century.

Despite losing wickets at one end, Aayush Shete kept his team in contention, displaying exceptional skill and composure under pressure, ultimately scoring an impressive 155 runs. Unfortunately for Aayush and Sitaram Prakash High School, they fell short by just 3 runs, allowing Anjuman-I-Islam Allana English School, who were the runners-up last year, to claim their second U-16 title.
