Mumbai Indians Honor Asha Bhosle in IPL Clash Against RCB
Mumbai Indians Face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL Showdown
On Sunday, April 12, the Mumbai Indians (MI) clashed with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, drawing a large crowd for this exciting Indian Premier League (IPL) match. Players from both teams donned black armbands as a mark of respect during the game. A moment of silence was observed prior to the match's commencement.
Reason Behind the Black Armbands in MI vs RCB Match
The black armbands served as a tribute to the renowned singer Asha Bhosle, who sadly passed away earlier that day in Mumbai. At 92 years old, she was celebrated as one of the greatest vocalists in history, with a career that spanned over eight decades and numerous accolades, including two national awards. She died at Breach Candy Hospital, just a day after being admitted due to a chest infection. Tributes have poured in from around the globe, with cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli expressing their condolences and honoring her immense contributions to Indian music.
In terms of the match, Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl first at Wankhede Stadium. MI made two adjustments to their lineup, bringing back Mitchell Santner and Mayank Markande, while Allah Gazanfar and Deepak Chahar were left out. The RCB also made two changes, with Josh Hazlewood unavailable and Abhinandan Singh being dropped, while Jacob Duffy returned to the squad. More updates to come...
