Dhoni's Historic Induction into the ICC Hall of Fame
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] June 10: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended its congratulations to MS Dhoni, the captain who led India to World Cup glory, following his induction into the ICC Hall of Fame during a ceremony held in London on Monday. This honor makes him the 11th Indian cricketer to achieve this prestigious recognition.

The ICC Hall of Fame honors cricket legends whose remarkable contributions have significantly influenced the sport's history. According to BCCI, players become eligible for this honor five years after their last international match.
Dhoni's legacy includes leading India to its first T20 World Cup victory in 2007 with a relatively inexperienced team, followed by a historic ODI World Cup win in 2011 on home soil, and securing the Champions Trophy in 2013. He is the only captain in cricket history to have won all three ICC white-ball titles, showcasing his ability to transform pressure into success.
In addition to his captaincy, Dhoni revolutionized the role of a finisher in One Day Internationals (ODIs). His remarkable unbeaten score of 183* against Sri Lanka in 2005 remains the highest by a wicketkeeper in ODIs.
With over 10,000 runs in ODIs at an impressive average of 50.57, his batting prowess is both significant and lasting.
As a wicketkeeper, Dhoni was exceptional, known for his quick stumpings and sharp instincts, which transformed the standards of wicketkeeping in limited-overs cricket.
His unconventional approach, much like his captaincy style, often defied norms but consistently yielded outstanding results.

The ICC Hall of Fame was established in January 2009 as part of the ICC's centenary celebrations and has since celebrated the greatest players to have played the game.
Alongside Dhoni, other notable inductees this year include Hashim Amla, Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith, and Daniel Vettori, all recognized as part of the ICC Hall of Fame Class of 2025.
