Mohammed Shami Shines in SRH vs LSG Match Amid Retirement Speculations
Match Highlights: SRH vs LSG
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) faced off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in a thrilling encounter where Mohammed Shami delivered an impressive bowling performance, dismantling the SRH top order. He struck early by dismissing the dangerous Abhishek Sharma in the first over, followed by the explosive Travis Head, leaving SRH in a precarious position. LSG, having won the toss, chose to bowl first, and Shami's exceptional spell put them in a commanding position. In his previous match, he had already made an impact by taking KL Rahul out for a golden duck, concluding that game with figures of 1-28.

Shami is widely regarded as one of India's premier fast bowlers, although his appearances have been limited since the 2023 World Cup, where he emerged as the team's leading wicket-taker. An injury during the tournament sidelined him for a significant period. He made a comeback in time for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, but was not selected afterward due to fitness concerns raised by chief selector Ajit Agarkar. Despite this, Shami has demonstrated his fitness through outstanding performances in domestic cricket, claiming 67 wickets in the 2025-2026 season across various tournaments including the Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Shami Discusses Retirement Speculations
Shami Opens Up On Retirement
In a recent interview, Shami addressed the rumors surrounding his potential retirement, asserting that he is far from finished with cricket. He stated, “When I get tired, I will call it a day. But I am not even thinking of retirement right now because such thoughts pull you down. If this thought crosses your mind, it means you’re already tired. And if you’re tired, it means you’re bored. I’ll leave cricket the day I wake up and decide to get bored. So yeah, the day I feel lazy or get bored, I’ll leave. But neither am I bored nor am I lazy. I am enjoying. Results are good and positive,” he shared on The Shubhankar Mishra Show.
