MLBx to Make Its Debut in Mumbai with Exciting 3-on-3 Baseball Competition
MLBx Set for Mumbai Premiere
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 8: Major League Baseball (MLB) has announced that it will introduce MLBx, an exciting 3-on-3 baseball competition, in Mumbai for the first time on October 24 at the Mumbai Football Arena, located in the Andheri Sports Complex.
This inaugural event will feature Suryakumar Yadav, India's T20 World Cup-winning captain and MLB Ambassador, alongside former MLB All-Stars Nick Swisher and Adrian Gonzalez. More participants are expected to be revealed in the upcoming weeks, as stated in a recent press release.
MLBx aims to blend competitive baseball with interactive fan experiences and entertainment, providing Indian audiences with a fresh perspective on one of the world's most iconic sports leagues.
Designed by Major League Baseball, MLBx is a fast-paced, mixed 3-on-3 competition that emphasizes power hitting, athletic defensive maneuvers, and rapid gameplay. After its successful run during MLB All-Star Week in Philadelphia, this competition is now set to debut in Mumbai.
Over the past three years, the event has been hosted at 15 venues across the United States and has also taken place internationally in cities like London, Seoul, and Mexico City.
This announcement is part of MLB's ongoing commitment to expanding its presence in India, which includes collaborations with MLB Ambassador Suryakumar Yadav and partnerships with RISE Worldwide, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, and JioStar.
Jeremiah Yolkut, Senior Vice President of Global Operations and Events at Major League Baseball, expressed excitement about bringing MLBx to Mumbai, stating, "India is one of the most thrilling locations for large-scale events and presents a significant growth opportunity for baseball. We are excited to offer MLBx to Mumbai for the first time."
He added, "Given the fantastic response to our recent initiatives in India, we are eager to allow fans to experience the thrill of baseball through MLBx firsthand."
Nick Swisher, a former MLB All-Star, had a 12-season career in Major League Baseball, winning the 2009 World Series with the New York Yankees and earning an All-Star selection in 2010.
Adrian Gonzalez, who had a 15-year Major League career, was selected as an All-Star five times and received four Silver Slugger Awards and four Gold Glove Awards while playing for teams including the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
MLBx in Mumbai marks another significant step in MLB's efforts to promote baseball globally and engage new audiences. The event will highlight the sport's excitement and culture through live music, interactive fan activities, and traditional ballpark food with a local twist, celebrating the bond between baseball and India's vibrant sporting culture. More details about programming and events will be shared soon.
