London [UK], September 11: Mikel Arteta, the head coach of Arsenal, has disclosed that he intentionally disrupted certain aspects of the team's pre-season training to better equip his players for challenges ahead.

Currently, Arsenal shares the top spot in the Premier League with Manchester City, having secured nine points from three consecutive victories. Arteta's unconventional methods have yielded positive outcomes, including playing Liverpool's anthem, "You Will Never Walk Alone," on loudspeakers before their match in Liverpool, and even hiring a pickpocket during a team dinner to enhance the players' alertness.

In their UEFA Champions League opener, Arsenal achieved a narrow 1-0 victory against Napoli. However, their journey to Naples faced hurdles on Tuesday due to technical difficulties at London airports, which delayed their flight to Italy.

Arteta commented on the flight delays, stating, "I embrace these challenges and aim to create similar situations during pre-season so that when they arise, we are already prepared." He emphasized the importance of adapting to unexpected circumstances, such as arriving late at the stadium, and ensuring that players remain calm and focused.

He added, "If we have an extra two or three hours on the plane, we should utilize that time to bond, rest, and not complain, as that would be counterproductive."

Reflecting on his pre-season tactics over the years, Arteta mentioned various strategies, such as altering meal times, changing transport routes, and even making the dressing room environment more challenging. He believes these preparations help the team adapt to different scenarios they may face during the season.

As of now, Arsenal has triumphed in all five of their matches, including the Community Shield against Manchester City, and they are set to face Sunderland away this Saturday.
