In Brisbane, on November 23, Australian opener Matt Renshaw made a significant impact on Day 2 of the Sheffield Shield match between Queensland and Victoria, scoring a century. Tasmania's Caleb Jewell also impressed with a century against New South Wales. Meanwhile, South Australia’s captain Nathan McSweeney and opener Henry Hunt concluded the day positively for their team.
Queensland finished Day 2 at 352/7, establishing a 34-run lead over Victoria, who had posted 318/9 declared in their first innings.
Starting the day at 15 without loss, Queensland displayed determination against the Victorian bowling attack. Renshaw's innings of 112 off 192 balls, along with Lachlan Hearne's contribution of 47 runs, helped the home side secure a lead.
Todd Murphy was the standout bowler for Victoria, achieving figures of 2/73.
In Sydney, Tasmania reached 196/2 by the end of Day 2, chasing New South Wales' first innings total of 391/9 declared. Caleb Jewell scored a century with 102 runs, while Tim Ward (53 not out) and Bradley Hope (8 not out) will continue their innings on Day 3.
Earlier, New South Wales had a solid batting performance with contributions from Sam Konstas (43), Ryan Hicks (50), Kurtis Patterson (80), Lachlan Shaw (68), and Josh Philippe (52).
In Adelaide, South Australia responded strongly, finishing Day 2 at 100/1 in reply to Western Australia's first innings total of 188. Henry Hunt (42 not out) and Nathan McSweeney (33 not out) will resume batting on Day 3.
Jayden Goodwin was the only player to score a half-century for Western Australia, making 53 runs, while South Australia’s bowlers Henry Thornton and Ben Manenti each took three wickets.
