In Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on September 24, Indian table tennis player Manush Shah kicked off his men's singles journey at the Asian Games with a decisive victory against Malaysia's Wong Qi Shen. Shah dominated the match, securing a 4-0 win with scores of 11-9, 14-12, 11-7, and 11-4, as reported by ESPN.


Women's Doubles Success for Indian Duo

The Indian pair of Sreeja Akula and Syndrela Das also made a strong start in their women's doubles event, defeating Mongolia's Bolor-erdene Batmunkh and Burenjargal Sanjaa with a clean 3-0 scoreline (11-5, 11-4, 12-10). Earlier, Diya Chitale and Yashaswini Ghorpade showcased their skills by winning their round two match against the Iranian duo of Setayash Iloukhani and Mashid Ashtari, finishing with a commanding score of 3-0 (11-2, 11-2, 11-4).


Athletics and Swimming Highlights

In athletics, the team comprising Jay Kumar, Kiran Pahal, Manu TS, and Poovamma MR advanced to the finals of the mixed 4x400 m relay, finishing second in their heat with a time of 3:16.23. They were narrowly edged out by China, who clocked 3:15.97, while the UAE secured third place with a time of 3:17.00.


In swimming, Aryan Nehra placed third in the B final of the men's 800 m freestyle, recording a time of 8:02.52 minutes. However, this event is not a medal competition, serving as a consolation final for slower swimmers. Additionally, the 4x100m freestyle relay team, consisting of Benedicton Beniston, Aneesh Sunil, Akash Mani, and Gitesh Shah, finished 12th out of 13 teams with a time of 3:23.51 minutes, ranking sixth in their heat.
