Manoj Tiwary Critiques Indian Cricket Management After Ireland Series Loss

In a recent video, former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary voiced his concerns over the team's management following their unexpected T20I series loss to Ireland. He highlighted the need for accountability, suggesting that the blame for the defeat would likely fall on captain Shreyas Iyer. Tiwary also criticized the decision to exclude Vaibhav Sooryavanshi from the playing XI, questioning the management's choices. As India prepares for a series against England, Tiwary's comments raise important discussions about team strategy and player selection.

Tiwary Questions Accountability in Indian Cricket

Manoj Tiwary, a former cricketer for India, expressed his concerns regarding the team's recent performance, particularly the loss to Ireland. He emphasized that even if India secures a victory in the upcoming T20 International series against England, the defeat to Ireland should still be scrutinized. Tiwary pointed out that the 'PR agencies' associated with the decision-makers will likely shift the blame onto captain Shreyas Iyer instead of taking responsibility for the loss. India faced its first bilateral T20I series defeat since mid-2023, losing to Ireland by 34 runs in the first match and narrowly by one run in the second.

Tiwary Criticizes Team Management Decisions

Concerns Over Accountability

Tiwary remarked, "India may very well win the World Cup in South Africa or the T20I series against England, but what about the series lost to Ireland? Who will take responsibility for that? I mentioned the need to address the issue, but my concerns were dismissed," in a video shared on his X account. He further stated, "I anticipate that the PR teams and associates of the so-called decision-maker will start blaming Shreyas Iyer for this loss."

Debut Opportunity Missed for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

Questions Surrounding Player Selection

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who many expected to make his international debut during the Ireland series, was not included in the playing XI as the management opted to stick with the existing opening lineup. Tiwary criticized this decision, stating, "Why not include him from the first match? Instead, you chose players who performed well in the previous World Cup before the IPL. Your so-called part-time obsession with Washington Sundar has not met expectations, leading to him playing only one game." India is set to head to England for three ODIs and five T20Is, commencing on July 1 at Chester-le-Street.
