Manjeet's Remarkable Achievement

In Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on October 21, Indian para-athlete Manjeet secured a silver medal in the men's javelin throw F13 category during the 2026 Asian Para Games, achieving a personal best of 61.03 meters.

This impressive performance contributed to India's overall medal count, which reached 46 at that moment.

Manjeet's standout throw came during his second attempt in the F12/13 javelin throw event, earning him a podium finish in the F13 classification.

Throughout the season, Manjeet has demonstrated exceptional skill, having previously won gold in the men's F13 javelin throw at both the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2026 in Delhi and the Indian Open Para Athletics Championships in Bengaluru. He also triumphed in the Asian Para Games qualifiers with a throw of 59.08 meters.

His silver medal marked India's 30th achievement in para athletics at the ongoing Games, contributing to a total of 46 medals, which included 12 gold, 16 silver, and 18 bronze.

India's Podium Sweep in Shot Put

Earlier that day, India celebrated its second podium sweep of the Games, with Sachin Khilari, Mohd Yasser, and Praveen taking home gold, silver, and bronze, respectively, in the men's shot put F46 event.

Khilari, a Paralympic medalist, clinched gold with a record-breaking throw of 15.87 meters on his final attempt. Yasser followed with a season-best throw of 15.06 meters for silver, while Praveen completed the sweep with a throw of 14.94 meters.

This achievement came after India's dominant performance in the men's discus throw F43/F44/F62/F64 final on Day 2, where Devender Kumar, Rakesh, and Pardeep Kumar secured all three podium spots.

Devender earned gold with 781 Raza points, Rakesh took silver with 771 points, and Pardeep finished third with 669 points, despite having the longest throw of the competition at 51.15 meters, due to the Raza points system that adjusts for disability classifications.

Additionally, Bhagyashri Jadhav contributed to India's medal tally by winning silver in the women's shot put F34, achieving a personal best of 8.19 meters on her third attempt, finishing behind China's Lijuan Zou, who set a Games record with a throw of 9.07 meters.

This silver medal marked Jadhav's second consecutive Asian Para Games medal in this event.
