Madhya Pradesh League Set to Begin

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh) [India], June 8: Alok Birla, the owner of Rewa Jaguars, emphasizes that the Madhya Pradesh League (MPL) serves as an excellent opportunity for budding cricketers to display their skills on a larger platform.

The MPL is scheduled to kick off on June 12 at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium located in Shankarpur, Gwalior. The Rewa Jaguars aim to build a franchise that not only participates in the league but also supports players' development both on and off the field.

Birla stated, “My goal is to establish a franchise that benefits players in terms of their careers and opportunities. I envision not just participation in the MPL but also providing personalized coaching to enhance their mental and physical fitness. If players remain with the franchise, they can achieve greater growth.”

He further added, “Everyone seeks a chance to showcase their talent and skills. The Madhya Pradesh League offers such a platform, providing exposure for players to advance to higher levels.”

Birla highlighted the success of Shivam Shukla, who gained attention in the previous MPL season and was subsequently signed by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as a replacement for Rovman Powell in IPL 2025.

“Shivam Shukla exemplifies this opportunity. After playing in the MPL last year, he is now with KKR. This is why many aspire to participate in the Madhya Pradesh League,” Birla remarked.

He also noted that the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association provides a valuable platform for young talents from the region to excel in cricket.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has also praised the MPL as a significant launchpad for young cricketers during the inauguration of its second season in Gwalior.

This season will introduce a women's league, featuring teams such as Chambal Ghariyals, Bhopal Wolves, and Bundelkhand Bulls.

Regarding his commitment to women's cricket, Alok Birla mentioned, “Currently, I do not plan to own a women's team, but I am dedicated to supporting female players, including two girls in Indore who are training at Dev Academy.”

The MPL, organized by the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) under the auspices of the MP Cricket Association, will commence on June 12.

Men's teams include: Gwalior Cheetahs, Bhopal Leopards, Jabalpur Royal Lions, Rewa Jaguars, Indore Pink Panthers, Chambal Ghariyals, and Bundelkhand Bulls.
