Ludhiana's Aradhya Shukla Selected as Net Bowler for Indian Team
Aradhya Shukla's Journey to the Indian Team
Through dedication, hard work, and self-belief, Ludhiana's fast bowler Aradhya Shukla has earned a spot as a net bowler for the Indian senior cricket team, as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). This opportunity comes ahead of the Test match against Afghanistan, scheduled to take place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur (Mohali) from June 6 to 10.
This selection represents a significant milestone in Aradhya's cricketing career and is seen as a promising step towards greater achievements in Indian cricket. Having previously played for India at the junior level, he now has the chance to train alongside some of the nation's top cricket talents, which serves as both a reward for his recent performances and a platform to display his skills.
Aradhya is familiar with the national setup, having represented India Under-19 in the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup held in Dubai, followed by participation in the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa. His disciplined bowling and ability to perform under pressure earned him accolades during these tournaments.
However, his journey has not been without obstacles. After facing fitness issues, Aradhya dedicated significant time to improving his physical condition and made a strong comeback to competitive cricket this season.
He stood out as the leading wicket-taker for Punjab in the PCA U-23 Multi-Day State Championship, securing 21 wickets across five matches. This achievement is particularly impressive given that many matches were played on pitches favoring spinners, posing challenges for fast bowlers.
Despite these conditions, Aradhya showcased his speed, precision, and ability to generate movement with both the new and old ball. His consistency throughout lengthy spells made him one of the tournament's top performers.
His coach, Amandeep Singh, attributed Aradhya's success to his unwavering commitment and professional attitude towards the sport.
“Aradhya has demonstrated exceptional dedication over the past year. He has worked diligently on his fitness and bowling, and the results are evident. He can bowl at high speeds while maintaining accuracy and is effective with both the new and old ball. This selection is a well-deserved acknowledgment of his hard work,” Singh stated.
He also mentioned that net bowler roles often serve as crucial opportunities for emerging cricketers to hone their skills against elite players and understand the rigors of international cricket.
Those close to Aradhya noted that he remained focused during challenging times and kept his goals in sight. His performances this season have solidified his status as one of Punjab's most promising pace bowlers.
Aradhya and his family expressed their gratitude to the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) for their unwavering support and belief in his potential.
As he gears up to train with the country's finest cricketers in Mullanpur, the people of Ludhiana are filled with pride, hoping this opportunity serves as a launching pad for an even more remarkable chapter in his cricketing career.
