Diogo Jota, a forward for Liverpool and the Portugal national team, tragically died in a car accident in Spain last July at the young age of 28, while traveling with his brother, Andre Silva.

Jota began his football journey in Porto, Portugal, where he was part of the Pacos de Ferreira academy before moving to Atletico Madrid in 2016. However, he never played a match for Atletico and returned to Porto on loan.

In 2018, he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, where he played under Portuguese manager Nuno Espirito Santo for two years. In September 2020, he transferred to Liverpool.

During his time with the Reds, he helped the team secure the Premier League title for the 2024-25 season and participated in the 2021/22 Champions League final against Real Madrid, coming on as a substitute in the match.

This season, Jota appeared in 26 games for Liverpool, netting six goals. He made his debut for the Portugal national team in November 2019 and played in both the Euro 2022 and Euro 2024 tournaments.

Unfortunately, he missed the FIFA World Cup 2022 due to injury. Recently, in May, he was part of the Portugal squad that clinched the UEFA Nations League title, defeating Spain in a penalty shootout.
