Messi's Special Tour of Vantara
On December 17, global football superstar Lionel Messi visited Vantara, a wildlife conservation and rehabilitation center in Jamnagar, Gujarat. This facility is dedicated to the care of rescued big cats, elephants, herbivores, reptiles, and young animals from around the world.
Messi's visit to Vantara, founded by Anant Ambani, began with traditional blessings that align with Sanatana Dharma, highlighting a deep respect for nature and all living beings.
During his time there, Messi engaged in Hindu rituals, observed various wildlife, and interacted with the dedicated caregivers and conservation teams. His actions during the visit showcased his humility and commitment to humanitarian values.
The visit also underscored the strong friendship between Messi and Anant Ambani, both united by their passion for wildlife conservation.
Accompanied by his Inter Miami teammates, Luis Suarez and Rodrigo De Paul, Messi received a warm welcome featuring folk music, flower showers, and a ceremonial aarti.

Messi participated in a Maha Aarti at the temple, which included various pujas, offering prayers for global peace and unity, reflecting India's enduring respect for all life.
Following the ceremonial welcome, Messi toured Vantara's extensive conservation ecosystem, which houses rescued animals including big cats, elephants, and reptiles.
He also explored the green energy complex and the world's largest refinery, expressing his amazement at the scale of operations. At the care center for endangered species, he interacted with animals in enriched environments, many of whom approached him curiously.
Messi visited both the Herbivore Care Centre and the Reptile Care Centre, observing how animals thrive under specialized veterinary care and tailored nutrition, showcasing Vantara's leadership in wildlife welfare.
During his visit, he toured the multi-specialty wildlife hospital, witnessing clinical and surgical procedures, and even fed okapis, rhinos, giraffes, and elephants. He praised the Indian Prime Minister's commitment to wildlife conservation.
At the Foster Care Centre, dedicated to orphaned animals, Messi learned about their resilience. Anant and Radhika Ambani named a lion cub 'Lionel' in honor of the football star, symbolizing hope and continuity.
A highlight of the tour was at the Elephant Care Centre, where Messi met Maniklal, a rescued elephant calf. In a touching moment, Messi engaged in a playful football activity with Maniklal, showcasing the universal joy of play.
The calf responded enthusiastically, demonstrating his playful skills, making it a memorable highlight of Messi's visit to India.
In a heartfelt message to Anant Ambani, Messi expressed gratitude for the visit, stating, 'What Vantara does is truly beautiful. The care for animals and the way they are rescued is genuinely impressive. We had a wonderful time and will surely return to support this meaningful work.'
Jamnagar was the final destination of Messi's GOAT India Tour 2025, which included stops in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi. The tour concluded in Delhi, where fans celebrated the Argentine footballer's visit with great enthusiasm.
