Bulawayo [Zimbabwe], September 16: In a remarkable display of skill, South Africa's captain Laura Wolvaardt matched the record for the most international centuries in women's cricket, achieving an impressive unbeaten 126 runs. This performance led the Proteas to an 80-run victory over Zimbabwe in the third T20I, securing a commanding 3-0 lead in the five-match series, as reported by the ICC.

Wolvaardt's 18th international century places her alongside India's Smriti Mandhana at the top of the women's cricket century leaderboard. This innings also marked her fourth T20I century, surpassing her previous best of 115 not out against Ireland last December.

Her explosive innings of 126 not out came off just 62 deliveries, boasting a remarkable strike rate of 203.22, which included 16 boundaries and four sixes, propelling South Africa to a total of 200/1 while batting first.

With this achievement, Wolvaardt set a new record for the highest individual T20I score by a South African woman, eclipsing Shandre Fritz's previous record of 116 not out against the Netherlands in 2010.

For her outstanding performance, Wolvaardt was awarded the Player of the Match, while Karabo Meso contributed significantly with a solid 50 runs off 51 balls.

With this century, Wolvaardt joins Mandhana at the pinnacle of women's international centuries, both having 18 to their names. Meg Lanning follows closely with 17, while Hayley Matthews has 15 centuries.

Zimbabwe struggled throughout their innings, failing to mount a significant challenge. South Africa's bowlers dominated, reducing the hosts to 29/4 during the powerplay, and they were left reeling at 35/6 shortly after.

Annerie Dercksen was the standout bowler, achieving a remarkable five-wicket haul with figures of 5/15, helping to bowl Zimbabwe out for just 120 runs.

South Africa had already secured victories in the first two T20Is, winning by 6 wickets and 64 runs, respectively. The fourth match of the series is scheduled for September 17.
