Kylian Mbappé Suffers Knee Injury, Out for Several Weeks
Injury Update on Kylian Mbappé
Real Madrid's forward Kylian Mbappé has sustained an injury to his left knee, as confirmed by the Spanish club on Wednesday.
The club issued a concise statement indicating that the French star has been diagnosed with a sprain, but they did not specify how long he would be sidelined.
According to French sports publication L'Équipe, Mbappé is expected to miss at least three weeks, although no source was cited for this information.
L'Équipe further reported that Mbappé has been dealing with a lateral ligament issue in his knee for several weeks, and an MRI conducted on Wednesday morning showed a lesion that necessitates both treatment and rest.
This season, the striker has been in exceptional form, having scored his 59th goal for Madrid in 2025 earlier this month, equaling the club record for the most goals in a year, previously set by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Since joining Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2024, he has netted 29 goals this season, leading the league with 18 goals.
Mbappé was recently seen attending Africa Cup of Nations matches, including the games between Morocco and Mali on Friday, and Cameroon versus Ivory Coast on Sunday.
Real Madrid's upcoming match is scheduled for Sunday against Real Betis in La Liga.
