Injury Update on Kylian Mbappe

Madrid [Spain], April 27: Real Madrid has announced that their star player Kylian Mbappe has sustained an injury to his left leg.

According to a statement released by the club, the 27-year-old's recovery process will be closely monitored. It remains uncertain whether this injury will impact his availability for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which begins in June. France, placed in Group I alongside Senegal, Iraq, and Norway, is set to kick off their campaign against Senegal on June 16.

"After conducting tests today, our medical team has diagnosed Kylian Mbappe with a semitendinosus muscle injury in his left leg. His recovery will be monitored," the club's statement detailed.

Previously, Real Madrid's coach Alvaro Arbeloa mentioned that Mbappe felt discomfort and requested to be substituted during the recent 1-1 draw with Real Betis.

During the match, Mbappe was taken off in the 81st minute and headed straight to the dressing room, with Gonzalo Garcia stepping in as his replacement.

"I have no idea what the issue is with Mbappe," Arbeloa stated in the post-match press conference. "He felt some discomfort, and we will assess his condition over the next few days," he added.

Mbappe has been a standout performer this La Liga season, leading the scoring charts with 24 goals. His participation in the upcoming 'El Clasico' against Barcelona on May 11 is now in doubt.

Currently, Real Madrid holds the second position in La Liga, boasting 23 wins, five draws, and five losses, accumulating 74 points—11 points behind league leaders Barcelona.

In the 2025-26 Copa Del Rey, Real Madrid faced a quarterfinal exit against Alaves, losing 2-3 on penalties. Their UEFA Champions League journey also concluded in the quarterfinals, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich with an aggregate score of 6-4.
