Kush Maini Enhances India's Formula 1 Presence with Successful Test
Kush Maini's Formula 1 Test Marks a New Chapter
Amsterdam [Netherlands], April 23: As the Indian Government actively seeks ways to rejuvenate Formula One in India, Kush Maini, the country's only representative in global Formula racing, is diligently working to elevate India's status in this elite sport.
Recently, the 25-year-old driver successfully completed his inaugural official Formula 1 test for the 2026 season with the BWT Alpine F1 Team at the renowned Circuit Zandvoort. This two-day, private session highlighted the team's ongoing confidence in his abilities.
During the Testing of Previous Cars (TPC) program, Maini drove the Alpine A521, achieving an impressive total of 193 laps, which amounts to 822 kilometers. Retaining his position as Test and Reserve Driver for the 2026 season, this test is just the beginning of several anticipated appearances in Formula 1 this year.
After the test, Maini expressed his excitement, stating, “It feels fantastic to be back in an F1 car after a break from the Formula 2 season. I am extremely thankful to Alpine for this opportunity. Getting behind the wheel of an F1 car is always a significant confidence boost, and I aim to carry this momentum into Miami as we kick off the F2 season again.”
Now, Maini will redirect his attention to the FIA Formula 2 Championship, which is set to resume next weekend in Miami. With the invaluable experience gained from his Formula 1 test, the Indian driver is poised to make a mark on the international stage, especially as India's aspirations to return to the Formula One calendar gain momentum. His consistent progress strengthens the argument for the sport's revival in the country.
