Kuldeep Yadav Prepares Delhi Capitals for Clash Against Mumbai Indians
Delhi Capitals Gear Up for Mumbai Indians Challenge
New Delhi [India] - On April 3, Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav acknowledged the formidable nature of the Mumbai Indians (MI) but emphasized that DC aims to dismiss them quickly in their upcoming match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium this Saturday.
After a strong start to their season, the Capitals are eager to maintain their momentum at home. In their last match, DC made a remarkable recovery from a precarious 26/4 during the powerplay to successfully chase down a target of 142, securing a six-wicket victory thanks to a stellar partnership of 119 runs between Sameer Rizvi and Tristan Stubbs.
During the pre-match press conference, Kuldeep highlighted the challenge posed by MI's experienced batting lineup, which features notable players such as Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Tilak Varma. He stated that DC will devise a strategic plan to try and eliminate these key players early in the game.
“They are a strong team with a very solid batting lineup. They performed well in the first match too. With players like Rohit Bhai, Surya, Hardik, and Tilak, they have a lot of experience and quality. Indian players have consistently done well for MI over the years. We will plan accordingly and try to get them out as early as possible,” Kuldeep remarked.
Kuldeep emphasized the importance of a bowler's strength in defining their identity, asserting that as an attacking spinner, the focus should always be on taking wickets. He noted that while outcomes may vary, maintaining an aggressive mindset is crucial, as the team relies on wicket-taking performances.
“Your strength is your identity. If you are an attacking spinner, you should not move away from that. If you are contributing to the team by taking wickets, there is nothing better than that. The team also expects you to pick wickets. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t, but your mindset should always remain attacking,” he explained.
Kuldeep also discussed the pressure that batters can exert on bowlers, advising that it’s essential to stick to one’s strengths rather than seeking safer alternatives in challenging situations.
As a senior bowler, Kuldeep's primary focus is on effective communication and collaboration with teammates like Axar Patel and KL Rahul. He expressed confidence in the bowling unit's performance, stating that they are not feeling pressured after a solid start and are committed to improving as the tournament progresses.
“My primary role is on the field. Most of my discussions also happen there. Axar is a senior player, and with KL bhai as wicketkeeper-batter, the communication between bowlers is very good. We’ve just played one match, and it’s been a good start. We are not under any pressure regarding our bowling unit. As the tournament progresses, we will learn more, improve, and look to put opposition teams under pressure,” he stated.
Kuldeep also pointed out that their previous match demonstrated the Delhi Capitals' resilience in recovering from early setbacks and successfully chasing down targets.
“We showed in the last game that even after losing early wickets, we have the ability to come back and finish the chase,” he concluded.
