Srikkanth's Take on Parag's Casual Dismissal
Former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth has criticized Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Riyan Parag for his lackadaisical approach during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's explosive innings of 78 runs off just 26 balls paved the way for RR's comfortable chase of 202 runs. Parag had a prime opportunity to secure the win but fell for a mere three runs off five balls when the team required 48 runs from 62 deliveries.
"Parag is merely in the team due to his captaincy. He got out in a careless manner, trying to play stylishly. Despite having played multiple seasons, he has only performed well a few times. His dismissal today was due to arrogance. He should have taken responsibility and worked on his form," Srikkanth remarked in a video on his YouTube channel.
Fortunately for RR, Parag's wicket did not significantly impact their chances, as Dhruv Jurel was in fine form, scoring a remarkable 81 runs to lead RR to victory. Srikkanth praised Jurel's performance, emphasizing the importance of his batting position at three for the team. "Jurel played an effortless innings, matching Sooryavanshi shot for shot with some extraordinary strokes. His presence at No.3 is crucial for them. However, they should have clinched the match by the 16th over," he added.

Srikkanth also urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to expedite Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's selection for the T20I squad, suggesting he should be included in the upcoming series for India. "I call upon the selectors to fast-track Sooryavanshi into the T20 team. He should be assured of playing the next series without the fear of being dropped for 15 matches. If given 15 innings, he could potentially win eight matches for you single-handedly. His impact on the game was evident, leaving the RCB bowlers in disarray," the former cricketer stated.
