Thiruvananthapuram (Keralam) [India], September 26: Indian wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul is just 35 runs shy of achieving the remarkable milestone of 10,000 international runs as he prepares for the first ODI against the West Indies.
The opening match against the Windies is scheduled for Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram. In his previous five ODIs against the West Indies, KL has accumulated 282 runs, boasting an impressive average of 56.50, which includes one century and one half-century.
To date, KL has amassed 9,965 runs across 240 matches and 280 innings for India, maintaining an average of 40.50, complemented by 22 centuries and 63 fifties, with a personal best of 199. Should he reach this milestone during the series, he will become the 15th Indian player to do so.
ODIs are where KL shines the most, demonstrating his versatility as he can open the batting or provide stability in the middle order. In 98 ODIs and 90 innings, he has scored 3,412 runs at an average of 49.44, including eight centuries and 20 fifties, with a top score of 112*.
In the Test format, KL has recorded 4,288 runs in 70 matches and 122 innings, averaging 36.64, with 12 centuries and 21 fifties, including another best score of 199.
In T20Is, he has tallied 2,265 runs in 72 matches and 68 innings, averaging 37.75 with a strike rate exceeding 139, featuring two centuries and 22 fifties, with a best score of 110*.
This year, KL has played seven ODIs, scoring 194 runs at an average of 48.50 and a strike rate above 129, including one century and a top score of 112*.
