Angkrish Raghuvanshi's Injury Update

Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a young batter for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), will not participate in the remainder of the 2026 Indian Premier League due to a finger injury. The 21-year-old sustained the injury during KKR's latest match against the Mumbai Indians on Wednesday. While attempting to catch a ball off Varun Chakaravarthy's bowling, Raghuvanshi, who was behind the stumps, collided with Chakaravarthy. Although Varun managed to get both hands on the catch, Angkrish's late arrival caused the ball to slip away, as there seemed to be a misunderstanding about who should take the catch.

Post-match, Angkrish was seen leaving the field with a brace on his hand. Following his injury, Tejasvi Dahiya made his debut as a wicketkeeper and batsman for KKR after the team invoked the concussion substitute rule. KKR's assistant coach Shane Watson commented on the incident, stating, “Ankrish ran a considerable distance to attempt that catch. Unfortunately, the collision with Varun Chakravarthy resulted in him experiencing neck pain, dizziness, and a headache shortly after.” He added, “It’s unfortunate he couldn’t finish the game, as he is a fiercely competitive player, and we certainly felt his absence in batting.”

KKR's final match of the IPL 2026 season against the Delhi Capitals is scheduled for Sunday, which is their last chance to secure a spot in the playoffs. They will need the Rajasthan Royals to lose to the Mumbai Indians earlier that day for a chance to qualify. Angkrish's absence would be significant for KKR, as he has been a dependable player, amassing 422 runs in 12 innings with an average of 42.20 and a strike rate of 146.52, even if he hasn't been the standout performer in every game.
