KKR's Narrow Win Against MI

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) achieved a vital victory in their sixth match of IPL 2026 by overcoming the Mumbai Indians (MI), keeping their playoff aspirations alive, albeit precariously. This win, however, came at a cost as one of their key players, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, was sidelined early in the game. He was removed from the field during the first innings and did not return for the remainder of the match. KKR now faces a significant challenge in their upcoming game, with uncertainty surrounding Raghuvanshi's availability.

During the match against MI, Angkrish was substituted due to a concussion, with Tejasvi Dahiya stepping in for him after a collision with Varun Chakaravarthy while attempting a catch. According to the latest ICC guidelines, a player diagnosed with a concussion must observe a mandatory cooling-off period of seven days. If this rule is adhered to, Raghuvanshi will miss KKR's next match against the Delhi Capitals on March 24, just four days after his injury, which is three days short of the required recovery time.

Path to Playoff Qualification for KKR

Currently, KKR holds 13 points from 13 matches, comprising six wins, six losses, and one no result. Their only chance of qualifying hinges on winning their next match against DC, which would elevate them to 15 points. Additionally, they will be rooting for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) to lose their final league match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). KKR will also need the Rajasthan Royals (RR) to lose to MI in their concluding game, as a victory for RR would push them to 16 points, securing their playoff spot. Even if PBKS triumphs over LSG, KKR must aim to improve their Net Run Rate to surpass PBKS and secure a higher position.
