Kieron Pollard Fined for Code of Conduct Breach During IPL Match
Kieron Pollard Faces Penalty from BCCI
The batting coach of the Mumbai Indians, Kieron Pollard, has been penalized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for violating Level 1 of the IPL code of conduct during a crucial match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS). In the 19th over of the Mumbai Indians' innings, Pollard was overheard using inappropriate language directed at the fourth umpire. This led to a charge under Article 2.3 of the IPL's code of conduct applicable to players and team officials. The BCCI confirmed the incident in an official statement, noting, "Kieron Pollard, Batting Coach, Mumbai Indians, has been fined 15% of his match fee and received one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the IPL's Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials." Pollard acknowledged his misconduct and accepted the penalty imposed by Match Referee Pankaj Dharmani.
Mumbai Indians Secure a Much-Needed Victory
MI Pick Rare Win
This season has been challenging for the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2026, as they have struggled significantly and were among the first teams to be eliminated from playoff contention. Their recent victory over PBKS marked only their fourth win of the season, thanks to a stellar 75-run performance from Tilak Varma, which enabled the team to chase down a target of 201 with six wickets remaining. Conversely, this loss was a significant blow to the Punjab Kings' hopes of qualifying for the playoffs. After starting the season with six consecutive wins, they have now faced five defeats in a row and must win all their remaining matches while relying on favorable outcomes in other games to keep their qualification hopes alive.
