Khalida Jabeen's Remarkable Achievement

Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 3: Khalida Jabeen expressed immense pride after securing a silver medal at the inaugural PTF India Open International Taekwondo Championship 2026. She emphasized her aspiration to bring further recognition to her district of Poonch, her state, and her nation.


Reflecting on her journey, Khalida noted her progression from winning local and state titles in 2019 to competing against international contenders. She believes her achievements highlight the potential of talent emerging from border regions on a global platform.


In an interview, she stated, “I am incredibly proud to advance from such a region; my motivation is to continue striving for excellence and to bring honor to my district, Jammu & Kashmir, and India. To share a bit about my journey: I trained for six months in 2019 before clinching the District and State Champion titles. Recently, I participated in an International Taekwondo Championship in Srinagar, organized by the Professional Taekwondo Federation. Athletes from various countries took part, which served as a great inspiration for young competitors; I was fortunate to win a silver medal there. It fills me with pride to emerge from a border area and achieve success through medals.”


The historic 1st PTF India Open International Taekwondo Championships 2026 took place from May 30 to June 2 at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium in Srinagar. This event marked a significant advancement in the realm of Professional Taekwondo in India and South Asia, according to the Professional Taekwondo Federation's website.


Spanning four days, the championship united athletes, coaches, referees, officials, and dignitaries from both India and abroad, celebrating sporting excellence, cultural exchange, and international camaraderie.


The event was orchestrated by the Professional Taekwondo Federation India (PTFI) in partnership with the Professional Taekwondo Federation (PTF), the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council, the My Youth My Pride Initiative, and the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. Over 500 athletes from various States and Union Territories of India, along with participants from six different countries, competed in this inaugural championship.
