Pietersen's Departure from Mentorship Role

Kevin Pietersen, the former captain of England, announced on Saturday that he will not continue as the mentor for the Delhi Capitals (DC) in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Pietersen, who served in this role last year, cited time constraints as the reason for his decision.

The IPL 2026 season is set to kick off on March 28, with the defending champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

In a post on X, written in Hindi, Pietersen expressed, "I cannot be the mentor for Delhi Capitals this IPL season. I cannot give the time that the job requires. Best wishes to all the players for this season! However, I’ll see you back in the commentary box. IPL is the world’s best league and I can’t wait to see you all soon!"

Delhi Capitals will begin their IPL 2026 campaign against Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on April 1, followed by their first home match against Mumbai Indians on April 4.
