Kerala CM Celebrates Sanju Samson's Triumph at T20 World Cup 2026

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan recently hosted cricketer Sanju Samson at Cliff House, celebrating his remarkable contributions to India's T20 World Cup 2026 victory. A Warm Welcome for Sanju Samson

In Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan welcomed Indian cricketer Sanju Samson to his official residence, Cliff House. The CM lauded Samson for his significant role in India's T20 World Cup 2026 victory.


Vijayan took to X to share his joy about hosting the cricketer, highlighting Samson as a point of pride for both India and Kerala, and extended his best wishes for Samson's future endeavors.


He stated, "It was a pleasure to host India's pride and Kerala's own, Sanju Samson, at Cliff House yesterday. I conveyed the deep affection and happiness of the people of Kerala. May he find inspiration in his recent successes and continue to achieve great things. Wishing him all the best."


Sanju Samson's Stellar Performance

Samson played a pivotal role in securing India's championship at the World Cup, earning the title of Player of the Tournament. He scored a remarkable 321 runs across five innings, averaging 80.25 with an impressive strike rate of 199.37, including 27 fours and 24 sixes, making him the third-highest run-scorer in the T20 World Cup.


Notably, he surpassed Virat Kohli's previous record of 319 runs from the 2014 T20 World Cup, achieving the highest runs by an Indian in a single T20 World Cup edition.


Although his initial matches in the tournament did not yield significant scores, Samson found his rhythm with an unbeaten 97 against the West Indies in the crucial Super Eight match, followed by scores of 89 against England in the semi-final and another 89 in the final against New Zealand.


India's Historic T20 World Cup Win

In the T20 World Cup 2026, India triumphed over New Zealand by 96 runs on March 8, successfully defending their title. This victory marked a historic moment as India became the first team to win the T20 World Cup on home soil, the first to secure consecutive titles after their 2024 win, and the first to lift the trophy three times (2007, 2024, and 2026).
