Kamran Akmal's Response to Naseem Shah's Actions

Kamran Akmal has expressed his discontent with Naseem Shah following the latter's social media remarks regarding Pakistani politician Maryam Nawaz, which have recently caused a stir. The former wicketkeeper-batter for Pakistan stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) played a crucial role in preserving Naseem's career, despite the severe penalties imposed on him. He referenced India's political landscape by mentioning Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition.

Naseem's post, which criticized Maryam after her appearance at a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match, quickly gained traction online before being deleted. The PCB subsequently imposed a significant fine of PKR 20 million (approximately ₹67 lakh), marking it as the highest penalty ever levied on a Pakistani player by the board. Akmal noted that the PCB's decision to fine rather than ban Naseem was in his best interest, as a ban could have jeopardized his career.

Akmal questioned Naseem's development as a bowler, pointing out a decline in his speed. He remarked, "The committee members and the chairman have safeguarded his career. A ban would have been detrimental. Where has his pace gone? He used to bowl at 145-150 km/h, but now it's down to 135-137 km/h. What changes have been made?" He encouraged Naseem to focus on his game and improve his skills, expressing his initial excitement when Naseem emerged as a promising fast bowler in 2018.

On the YouTube show The Game Plan, Akmal advised Naseem to maintain neutrality, emphasizing the importance of focusing on cricket. He drew a comparison with Indian players, stating, "When you are part of the system, neutrality is key. You should concentrate on your game. How many Indian players comment on Rahul Gandhi? It’s simply not done in the sports world," Akmal concluded.
