Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh Reach Finals in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team at Asian Games

Indian Duo Shines in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Event

In Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on September 25, the talented pair of Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh has successfully secured a spot in the finals of the 10m air pistol mixed team event during the ongoing Asian Games.

The duo topped the leaderboard with an impressive score of 587-29x, just four points shy of the world record currently held by China since July 2026. According to reports, they delivered three remarkable series of 196, 195, and 196, which propelled them into the finals.

In the final round, India will compete against teams from Iran (584-17x), South Korea (582-23x), and Indonesia (580-30x).

This achievement follows a less-than-stellar performance from the pistol shooters in previous events. The team comprising Kamaljeet, Kedarling Balakrishna, and Aakash Bhardwaj finished fourth in the men's 10m air pistol team event yesterday.

India ended up in fourth place with a total score of 1727-53x, trailing behind China (1743-70x), Indonesia (1743-57x), and Japan (1730-54x).

Kamaljeet concluded his 60 shots with a score of 580-16x, placing him ninth overall. Aakash followed closely in eleventh with a score of 579-20x. Only the top eight shooters qualify for the individual finals, while Kedarling Uchaganve faced challenges, finishing in 35th place with a score of 568.

Additionally, India's double Olympic medalist Manu Bhaker secured fifth place in the women's 10m air pistol individual final on Wednesday, scoring 181.1 points before being eliminated after her 18th shot. The 24-year-old Bhaker, who qualified third with a score of 579-20x, was cut short after registering a 9.6 on her 18th shot. She had made a strong recovery from a slow start in qualification, where she began with a score of 95 but finished with impressive series of 96, 96, and 98.

Bhaker's fifth-place finish followed a narrow miss for India's women's 10m air pistol team, which finished fourth, just two inner-10 shots away from the podium. Esha Singh placed 16th in qualification with 572 points, while Suruchi Singh ranked 26th with a score of 568.
