He emphasized the need for a comprehensive evaluation of the German Football Association (DFB), as reported by a sports media outlet.
The four-time World Cup champions faced their first-ever exit from the tournament via a penalty shootout. In a tense match against Paraguay, the score was tied at 1-1 as the game moved into extra time. Germany believed they had secured a spot in the Round of 16 when Jonathan Tah scored from a corner in the 101st minute.
However, a VAR review led referee Jalal Jayed to disallow the goal, citing interference by German defender Waldemar Anton on Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill. The match proceeded to penalties, where Paraguay triumphed 5-3, marking another disappointing chapter for Germany since their 2014 World Cup victory.
In an interview with ESPN, Klinsmann, who won the World Cup in 1990, expressed his discontent with the team's performance, stating that the defeat underscores a crisis in German football. Klinsmann also criticized the team's preparation for the knockout match, noting a lack of intensity necessary for a 120-minute battle against Paraguay. He stated, "The way we were eliminated is a significant disappointment. The team was not ready to dominate for 120 minutes. They lacked energy and were not aggressive enough against a formidable Paraguayan side."
