Jos Buttler Celebrates Return to Form with Key Performance Against LSG
Buttler's Impressive Comeback
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India] - After leading his team to victory over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Jos Buttler, who scored a half-century, shared insights about his recent struggles and the technical challenges that affected his performance.
Buttler is now among the elite group of players who have surpassed 14,000 runs in T20 cricket, achieving this milestone with a remarkable 60 runs off just 37 balls, including 11 boundaries, in his second consecutive fifty during the IPL match against LSG.
During the post-match interview, Buttler reflected on reaching the 14,000-run mark, stating, “I’m not really a numbers guy. Someone mentioned it to me, and it’s nice to be back in form.”
He acknowledged the difficulties he faced earlier this year in picking up the ball, a concern that was also noted by GT's batting coach, Matthew Hayden. Buttler emphasized the importance of spending time with Hayden, which allowed him to clear his mind and focus on his fundamentals.
“I had a rough patch recently, so it feels good to contribute to another win. I took some time away from the game to think, and it helped me refocus. I concentrated on my setup and basics, as I realized some technical flaws were affecting my ability to see the ball clearly,” he explained.
Buttler's performance in the T20 World Cup was disappointing, with only 87 runs in eight innings at an average of 10.87. However, in the IPL, he has rebounded with 176 runs in four matches, averaging 44.00 and boasting a strike rate of over 158, including two fifties.
On his discussions with Hayden, he remarked, “He asked me early on how well I was watching the ball, as it seemed I wasn’t tracking it effectively. His simple yet profound advice has been invaluable, and I’ve enjoyed learning from him.”
Buttler concluded by expressing his joy at having his family in India during the tournament, stating, “It’s wonderful to have them here. Cricket can be intense and busy, so it’s nice to have family around for some distraction and quality time.”
Currently, GT sits in fifth place with two wins and two losses, totaling four points, while LSG is in sixth, sharing the same record. In the match, LSG batted first, scoring 164/8, with Aiden Markram being the only player to surpass 20 runs. GT successfully chased down the target, thanks to fifties from Gill and Buttler, winning by seven wickets with eight balls to spare.
