Jofra Archer's Absence in the First T20I

Despite being included in the squad for the five-match T20 series, Jofra Archer will not participate in the opening match against India. The England team, led by Harry Brook, announced their playing XI a day prior to the match scheduled for Wednesday (June 17), and Archer was notably absent from the lineup.

The two-time T20 World Cup champions opted for two specialist fast bowlers, Saqib Mahmood and Luke Wood, along with all-rounder Sam Curran in their squad.

Reason for Jofra Archer's Exclusion

Archer has been rested due to the short turnaround time between the conclusion of the third Test against New Zealand at Trent Bridge and the first T20 match in Durham against India. However, he is anticipated to participate in later matches of the series.
