Madrid [Spain], May 3: Jannik Sinner from Italy triumphed over Germany's Alexander Zverev in straight sets, securing the Madrid Open title and marking a historic achievement as the first player to win five consecutive Masters 1000 titles, as reported by the ATP.

The top-ranked player in the ATP Rankings dominated the match at Manolo Santana Stadium, finishing with a score of 6-1, 6-2 on Sunday.

Throughout his five title victories, Sinner has only lost two sets, with his wins spanning from Paris last November to Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo, and now Madrid in 2026. Impressively, he did not face a single break point during this match, extending his winning streak against Zverev to nine consecutive matches.

Reflecting on his achievement, Sinner expressed that winning five Masters 1000 titles is a testament to his hard work, commitment, and daily sacrifices. He acknowledged that while this success is significant, he is aware that performance levels can fluctuate in sports.

"There is a lot of effort behind this. Daily dedication and sacrifices have been crucial. This success means a lot to me, but I understand that results will eventually vary, which is a normal part of the sport," Sinner stated.

He also emphasized the importance of maintaining confidence and discipline in his training, crediting his team's unwavering support. "I’m proud of my belief in myself and my consistent effort in practice. Having the right team behind me has been essential, and this achievement is meaningful for all of us," he added.
