Jadumani Singh's Triumphant Return

Imphal (Manipur) [India], August 5: Indian boxer Jadumani Singh, who secured a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026, was warmly welcomed back to his hometown of Imphal.

Expressing his joy over the achievement, Singh acknowledged that his goal was to clinch gold. He dedicated his medal to India, his coaches, the support staff, and the Sports Authority of India (SAI), promising to intensify his training for a better performance at the upcoming Asian Games.

The 22-year-old from Manipur earned silver after a closely contested final against Australia's Jye Dixon, which ended in a unanimous decision.

"Winning the silver medal at the Commonwealth Games feels fantastic. Although I aimed for gold, I fell short. Nevertheless, I am determined to improve for the Asian Games. I will prepare more rigorously... I dedicate this medal to all of India, my coaches, the support staff, SAI, and everyone who has supported me on this journey," Singh shared with reporters.

In the final, Singh started strong, edging the first round 3-2, but faced pressure as Dixon dominated the second round with a 5-0 score through effective counter-punching.

Maintaining his composure, the Australian landed cleaner shots in the final round, securing the gold medal with a unanimous decision.

Despite the loss, Singh's performance was a highlight for Indian boxing in Glasgow. He began his campaign with a commanding 5-0 victory over Scotland's Aaron Cullen, followed by another unanimous decision win against Pakistan's Sumama Rehman in the round of 16.

Singh then secured his medal with a flawless 5-0 win over Zambia's Mwengo Mwale in the quarter-finals, and outclassed Namibia's Philip Haoseb by the same score in the semi-finals to reach the final bout.
