Exciting Championship for Young Athletes

Gurugram (Haryana) [India], April 13: The International Schools Sports Organisation (ISSO) recently held the North Region Under-9 and Under-11 Swimming and Athletics Championship at Pathways School Gurgaon, attracting over 400 young competitors from top schools in the area.


This championship underscores ISSO's commitment to grassroots development, emphasizing the importance of the Under-9 and Under-11 age groups. The organization believes that early participation in structured competitions is vital for discovering and nurturing young talent, laying a solid foundation for future sporting success, as highlighted in a press release.


These junior events aim not only to enhance athletic abilities but also to instill core life values such as discipline, confidence, teamwork, and resilience from a young age.


In the Athletics segment, The British School claimed the title of Overall Champion, with Pathways School Gurgaon taking the Overall Runner-up spot, while Strawberry Fields International School, Chandigarh, finished as the second runner-up. Individual champions included Ziann Shiv Gambhir and Lieh Sharma from The British School in the Under-9 boys and girls categories, respectively. In the Under-11 boys category, Aveer Singh (The British School) and Aryan Naman (Mayo College) shared the top honors, while Seima Ito (The British School) won the girls title.


In Swimming, The British School again excelled as the Overall Champion, with Pathways School Gurgaon as the Overall Runner-up and Prometheus School, Noida, securing the second runner-up position. Aahan Malik (Prometheus School, Noida) and Ziann Shiv Gambhir (The British School) were crowned champions in the Under-9 boys category, while Sarah Dewan (Pathways School, Gurgaon) topped the Under-9 girls category. In the Under-11 category, Ayansh Bhagat (DPS International) won the boys title, and Seima Ito (The British School) clinched the girls title.


Captain Rohit Sen Bajaj, Director of Pathways School Gurgaon, remarked, “Sports play a transformative role in shaping young minds, building character, and preparing students for challenges both on and off the field.
