Exciting Developments at the ISSO Handball Championship

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] - October 5: The ISSO Handball Championship has gained significant traction, with 15 schools participating in the recent two-day event held at Don Bosco International School in Mumbai.

Having been introduced to the ISSO calendar last year, Handball made a strong comeback for its second edition, showcasing heightened participation and fierce competition among Under-14 and Under-17 Boys and Girls teams. This growth further solidifies Handball's role in the expanding ISSO sports program.

Don Bosco International School (DBIS) had a remarkable championship, clinching three out of four available titles. They triumphed in the U14 Boys, U14 Girls, and U17 Boys categories, while VIBGYOR secured the title in the U17 Girls category.

In the U14 Boys division, DBIS emerged victorious, with Amulakh taking the second spot and CHIREC finishing third. For the U14 Girls, DBIS again claimed the title, followed by VIBGYOR in second and Amulakh in third.

DBIS continued its winning streak in the U17 Boys, finishing ahead of VIBGYOR and CHIREC. In the U17 Girls category, VIBGYOR took home the championship, with DBIS as runners-up and Utpal in third place.

Abhishek Saraswat, Admin Head of ISSO, remarked on the increasing popularity of Handball, stating, “It’s heartening to witness the growing enthusiasm and participation in Handball during its second year on the ISSO calendar. The response from schools and athletes indicates a rising interest in the sport, and we are eager to build on this momentum in future editions.”

The championship highlighted the expanding landscape of school-level Handball, with athletes competing across various age groups and schools fielding strong teams. The surge in participation in just its second year suggests that Handball has the potential to become a key discipline within the ISSO calendar.
